Back to work

After almoust 2 months without posting anything... here it is finally! This is a commissioned work that I did for a friend of mine. I used the basic techinque that I use in all my works. First I draw it in Illustrator and then add some textures of old paper, old stamps or just stuff I find in the streets. Enjoy it!

Bold

Almoust arriving to the 100 works posted here in this blog... so what better way to celebrate that with another work. This time I´ve made dthe drawing in Illustrator and add all the textures in Photoshop after...enjoy!

Stamp

In this poster I've used again the same technique, I combine some textures of notes and stamps and this came out. I'm having loads of fun joining this new textures together... enjoy!!

Russian

It's a fact, I'm defently back to the old style of illustration I had 2 years ago. Ofcourse with some changes but basically it's the same. I used some textures of an old russian note and did a drawing of a friend of mine... hope he doent mind. Enjoy!

After a all day stressing about work and deadlines I finally had time to relax and do this poster. This was a design that I've been doing for quite a while now. It has more then 200 layers and it was great fun to do. Enjoy.

Walking

In this poster I went back to basics. I decided to go back to a style that I used to had in the beggining. I just love to play arround with those textures and colors in Photoshop. By the way this poster was made for a non profit organization. Enjoy!

Triangle kid

I'm almoust addicted to this kind of graphism., this sort of pontism made with geometric shapes. I've draw all of this in Illustrator and then passed to photoshop to add some textures and to balance the color. This is the final result. Enjoy.

Thinking

Finally I post something here on my blog. This time I try to do something a little bit different, so I decided to put a black background. I really think that yellow and balck work quite well together, and if you join some bits of blue the match it's perfect. I did it all in Illustrator, add some textures and balanced some colors on photoshop. Enjoy!

OFFF Festival

I just found out today that I'm going to be in the mercadillo of OFFF festival 09 in Lisbon. I'm planning to sell some of my hold prints there. But I'm also going to present a new set of works specially made for the mercadillo. This is one of them... enjoy!

Ten images for Ithaca 2

This poster it's for a competition called Ten images for Ithaca. It's the secound time I participate in it. The theme of this yeas was "I", so i decided to do a self portrait representing how I see myself, with the things that are usually in my mind... and this came out... quite scary isnt it? hehehe. Geometric

I had the idea for this poster almoust one year ago. It has been there in my sketchbook, just waiting for the right time to be produced. I've used my new house mate as a model, draw his face in a stencil tecnique and then basically put geometric figures everywere, add some textures on photoshop and thats it!! Enjoy!!

I had so much fun doing this poster!! I did all the drawing on Illustrator, then I passed to photoshop to add some texture, trying to give an old "vibe" to the poster. I'm quite happy with the result! Enjoy!!

Elephant

I had this idea in my head for several months now.I wanted to do something were I could mix a bunch of graphic elements, and from there something would come out... like a shape of an elephant!! So here it is!!! Enjoy!!

Menina

More then a month as passed since the last post, but I'm back. This poster was probably the most demanding work I ever done, it took me 1 week just to draw all the graphic elements. And then several hours on photoshop adding textures and balancing the colours. I'm quite happy with the result... enjoy!!

80's

In this poster my main inspiration was the 80's. At least that was the inicial idea, but somehow the final look of the design it's not very 80's. Even so I had loads of fun doing it. I've used some old textures, and some new patterns. So here it is...enjoy!

Beatle design

This is the first poster I did for my new project called Beatle design. Me and a friend of mine decided to "combine forces" and do a graphic project together. We hope to have a website in January were you can buy some printings and t-shirts made by us. Hope u like it. Hair

In this poster I've try to play a bit more with the photoshop, I used the textures to create contrast and spots of color in some parts. I like the final result, it's probably similar to some designs I did before, but I just have too much fun with it...so. Enjoy!

Pastor

Finally a new poster!! This poster probably it's simbol of everything it's organizing in my life again!! After moving back to Portugal I had some problems with the computer, and then I didn't had time (the best portuguese excuse by the way..hehe) to work. But finally Im back. This poster its about Alentejo, the region in Portugal were my parents were born. And I did this design specially to my fathers birthday, I hope he likes...lets see. He usually dosent have much of an opinion about m work, so Im a bit nervous, he can be the most dificult client sometimes. It's good to be back. Enjoy!

Jazz

Last week I was seeing a really nice documentary on BBC4 about Ella fitzgerald, and they were talking about her first band ...I cant remember the name right now... but I noticed a poster of their first concert, and it was amazing!! So, I had the idea of doing this poster. Lately I've been feeling this need of starting to experimenting with fonts, and try to understand were do they work better. I still have to practice more...but I think I'm in the right track. By the way, this poster it's dedicated to another bar that I used to go in Lisbon. It was a nice place, with nice jazz music...and sometimes wierd things could happen...mainly in the toilets...but that's another story...hehehehe. Enjoy!

Nature

As you may noticed, lately I've been doing some posters with a certain 70's vibe. I guess it's the influence of a poster I seen few months ago in a rock pub here in England. I juts love this type of vintage style. I wasnt sure about the colours, but I guess in the end it turn out ok. Probably I will add some lettering later on. Enjoy!

Clandestino

Finally I finished the things I had to do this week, and what is the best way of celebrating that...work a bit more!!! So, I decided to pay tribute to one of the bars I used to go when I was living in Lisbon. Its a quite dark place, is always playing the same albuns, Nirvana, Pixies, Pearl Jam and Manu Chau... all the time...they didn't chance anythign in 10 years. Oh and by the way, the name of the bar is Clandestino. Enjoy!

Attraction

This is a poster for a contest in Czech Republic. The objective was to creat something connected to attraction. So I decided to get an old drawing I did in a previous poster, and try to bring it to a completly different level using new graphic elements. I'm quite happy with the final result. I did strugle a bit with the type of lettering to use, but I guess the good old classic Helvetica still saves the day... Enjoy!

Wine

I've been quite busy lately. Projects to finish, things to take care of... So I didnt do anything specially for the blog. This time I'm going to show a Poster that I've been doing for a company of wines in Spain. I had loads of fun doing it. But I have to say that this time I did strugle a bit to imagine and, more important, to do the graphic elements... but in the end I think it came out alright. Enjoy!

Toxic

This design gave me such a pleasure to do it. I enjoy every single moment of the preparation of this poster. I've used a similar techique of the previous post, some of the graphic elements are the same. But this time I try to do something diferent. I think it came out alright, and the dimentions work really well. The original print has 40x84cm. Enjoy!

Smoke

I had the idea for this poster a few weeks ago when I saw a really nice 60's style printing in a pub. It was really amazing, the colors were spot on, the shapes had that psicotropic feel, that I dont specially like, but in that poster were quite good. But the best of all was the main element on it, a womens face "emerging" from the combination of all graphic elements and lettering. It was just brilliant. So, I had the idea of doing this design... Bird

After more then 2 months without doing any poster in photoshop, I'm back!! I did some vector work on Illustrator, but all the composition, coloring and textures is from Photoshop. Im quite happy with the result, Enjoy!

Face

In this poster I redesign or "grab" old ideas and used new techniques and styles that apeal more to me nowadays. I've used a similar style as this one, but I decided to add more graphic elements to it, I try to creat more a explosion effect. I'm quite happy with the result, hope you like it!

Women

Lately I'be been working mainly with vector drawing, using photoshop just to balance the color or add some texture if required. But I have to say that I miss "playing" with images in photoshop, It's just my favourite working tool!!! Well but Im still having fun with vectores, so here it is. Enjoy!

Light bulb

In this poster I've used almoust the same graphic elements of the previous one, and again I've only work with vectors... and again the computer was almoust bloking... hehe. I'm having loads of fun drawing in the computer and creating my "own world". Enjoy!

Tv

This new poster was for me, more a way of practicing my vector technique. Basically I've re-use the same idea of a previous poster, but this time insted of using photoshop I did everything in Freehand. After blocking 2 computer while I was exporting the file to jpeg (the vector file had 45mb) here it is!! Finally!!! Enjoy.

Building

I had this building ready to be used in a poster for quite a while now. I've been a bit busy lately and wasn't really sure what to do with itI decided to use some new patterns trying to give the hypnotic effect that I've been using lately. This is like a new version of a work I made in the past. Enjoy!

Indian poster 2

I've a said before I was really struggling to finish this poster. It seams that my brain was stuck, and the solutions that came to my mind were all rubbish. But I finally manage to get it done. And in my opinon this seams better then the previous solution. Enjoy!

Circles

This design is probably the one that I used more graphic elements ever. There are 11 types of different patterns, and at least 90 circles in this poster...and after looking at it for 6 hours, while I was doing it, I must say it makes a bit of a headache... but even so I like it. Enjoy!!

This is a design that I've been working lately. It's not finished yet, I'm having some problems with the background and the patterns, I'm not really sure what to do with them... but I think overall its coming out ok... Enjoy.

Peacock

I've had this idea of making a design with a peacock for quite while now. I really love the hypnotizing patterns of the feathers, and I think it looks really cool on a poster. If you look carefully you can see some round shapes in the background, that is a pattern from an english church that I visited last weekend. Enjoy!!

Aviator

I dont really know how to explain what is the meaning of this poster, it just came out like this. I've used some new patterns, and some new colors but the technique it's the same that I've been using lately.

Change

I dont know why... but lately I dont feel the need I use to have of using the photoshop every single day. Now my new "addiction" it's the vectorical drawing. It's just so fun to be able to create what ever you imagine. Enjoy!
